Blog: New ways for YOU to keep in the loop with the Federal Government

If you haven’t looked lately, US GPO and Federal Register made big improvements to their websites in 2014. The sites are easier to navigate and search. And, once you find the page you want, you can use XML/RSS feeds to keep tabs on new updates and new content.

Every week there’s a ton of Federal Register notices and announcements coming from scores of federal agencies and departments. For my part, I’m only interested in some (not all) of the notices at just four agencies — four out of 434.

So here’s my timesaver. I have a bookmarked “feeds” page, automatically refreshed with content of just the agencies I want to follow. For example: returns just Census Bureau’s notices.

2015 Steering Committee Elections

Elections have now begun for the State Data Center Steering Committee. SDC lead agencies are allowed to cast the lone ballot for their areas. There are six candidates on this year’s ballot, and the lead agency may vote for three.

(Note: 20 states have voted as of January 15)

Each candidate has answered 4 questions about their vision for the SDC Steering Committee. You may see their responses by clicking on their names.

Voting will end at midnight, EST, on Monday, February 2, 2015.  The 2015 SDC Steering Committee election uses, and Mary Craigle of the SDC Steering Committee is the administrator of the election process. All SDC Lead agencies should have received an e-mail through to cast their vote. While the votes are confidential, the administrator can tell which voters on the email list have voted.
