If you haven’t looked lately, US GPO and Federal Register made big improvements to their websites in 2014. The sites are easier to navigate and search. And, once you find the page you want, you can use XML/RSS feeds to keep tabs on new updates and new content.
Every week there’s a ton of Federal Register notices and announcements coming from scores of federal agencies and departments. For my part, I’m only interested in some (not all) of the notices at just four agencies — four out of 434.
So here’s my timesaver. I have a bookmarked “feeds” page, automatically refreshed with content of just the agencies I want to follow. For example: https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/census-bureau.rss returns just Census Bureau’s notices.
Also there are similar pages for 434 other federal agencies and departments: https://www.federalregister.gov/agencies/
I know many people are saying they must have email. Good news: The Federal Register can send email too. Get yours — subscribe here: https://www.federalregister.gov/my/subscriptions/new?subscription%5Bsearch_conditions%5D%5Bagency_ids%5D%5B0%5D=42
Elections have now begun for the State Data Center Steering Committee. SDC lead agencies are allowed to cast the lone ballot for their areas. There are six candidates on this year’s ballot, and the lead agency may vote for three.
(Note: 20 states have voted as of January 15)
Each candidate has answered 4 questions about their vision for the SDC Steering Committee. You may see their responses by clicking on their names.
- Patty Becker (MI)
- Darlene Hoctor Mulmat (CA)
- Suzan Reagan (NM)
- Charles Rynerson (OR)
- Pam Schenker (FL)
- Jennifer Shultz (PA)
Voting will end at midnight, EST, on Monday, February 2, 2015. The 2015 SDC Steering Committee election uses BallotBin.com, and Mary Craigle of the SDC Steering Committee is the administrator of the election process. All SDC Lead agencies should have received an e-mail through BallotBin.com to cast their vote. While the votes are confidential, the administrator can tell which voters on the email list have voted. If you have questions about the voting process, please contact Mary Craigle (email@example.com)
